I think my classic short "May contain Nuts" has been rated very harshly, i dont think people see it for what it is. Let me know what you think

I did not rate your story, but here is the good and bad in my view:

Good- helps to illustrate the classic concept of a story by stepping outside the accepted framework.  Violates, in a curious fashion, the fourth wall by being self-referential to its own story-nature.

Bad- not particularly original or clever in what it does.

People may not like the piece because they are hoping to be taken away someplace new and instead find almost a thought puzzle.  And, even if they are aware of what you intended, that doesn't mean they necessarily enjoyed it.

In 1949, Howard Schoenfeld wrote a masterpiece of self-referential fiction ("Built Up Logically") and also managed to tell an entertaining tale at the same time.  Theodore Sturgeon also shattered the fourth wall in Some of Your Blood in 1961.  Many, many authors have done the same thing.

I enjoyed your story and commend you for rising to the challenge of attempting something new and different.  But, I've read other examples that did that and so much more.

By the way, the lack of capitalization in the story is a distraction.  Is that a typo or is it intentional?  I'm also curious about why you refer to the story as "classic"?  Isn't that a determination best left to others?

Thanks for posting your question here.  This strikes me as a better place to have a discussion than in the comment section at storywars.

Arr good to get clarification. And for the questions you left me, the small caps are intentional. I believe sometimes grammar and pauses for correction in the writing restrict the creative flow of the text. For me, everything has already been written, it’s just up to individuals to fish out creative writing from the cosmos and put it to paper.
And for me it is a classic, I do not go by what others to deem to be classic nor do I wait for approval and a seal for my writing, how it affects my future writing determines how I perceive it.
This piece in particular, I always read, and usually gets me writing straight away. It has the same effect as me reading the entire works of Hawthorne, Poe, Chekhov, Wells and Maupassant. I think that merits its classification as a classic, don’t you?

I was very disappointed when I found no nuts. But I must say you had balls to post the story.
